Engineering and Tooling
This new concept, developed as a partnership between Cefamol and ICEP , seeks to demonstrate the technological and productive capability of the industry, through the inclusion of different services which increase the value and expand the supply of the Portuguese moulds industry. The different components in the chain of value are presented and include industrial design, product development and engineering, prototyping, production of moulds and services for trials and the transformation of plastics through pre-production runs or full production of plastic parts.
These stages in the production process were considered the key-points in the development of a policy to differentiate Portuguese moulds in the international market from competitors whose only competitive advantage is price related.
The concepts used, which demonstrate the five stages where Portuguese mould manufacturers possess competencies and knowledge which allows them to provide products and services of added value, were vital in the creation of this logotype. These concepts seek to facilitate the identification of the different stages and processes in the supply of Portuguese moulds and are as follows:
- Imagining the Idea (design)
- Developing the Idea (product design and development)
- Experiencing the Idea (prototyping)
- Building the Idea (manufacture of moulds)
- Delivering the Idea (final parts and products)
The “Engineering and Tooling from Portugal” concept aims to transmit and present the wide range of supply available from the Portuguese moulds industry, initially based on the manufacture of moulds but which has since expanded into the development of new capabilities and competencies both up and down stream. Today, the Portuguese Moulds Industry has a much greater and more valuable supply of products to industry clients, with special emphasis on product and process engineering thus differentiating our industry on the international market through its added value.
To reinforce these new concepts and image, a new institutional brochure has also been designed and produced which, using the above items as a basis, develops and transmits the concepts to all potential clients and those interested in working with our industry.
Comments from both national and international contributors are published in the brochure which bear witness to the best there is in
